Thanksgiving week NOV 1997..........Contemplating Divorce with my kids Mother. Loaded up my parents MOHO and decided to contemplate on a Dune. Packed the trailer, headed to Mother Glamis. By myself. 22hrs on the road will allow your emotions to run wild. Woke up early morning, day 2 of driving coming into Tucson, AZ. Cranking the tunes when I see flashing lights in my mirror. Pulled over for??? Met the AZ State Trooper outside the MOHO. His first words...................are you Da chEFF A DA World? Thats when I knew I was in big trouble. Turns out, my daughter had a Grand Mal Seizure and was in the hospital. My Father was calling Texas / New Mexico / AZ and CA Police to locate me. Of course, he knew how to do that. 36 years in Law Enforcement will teach you that. The officer let me use his phone to call back home. Thats when the news was delivered to me. "What do you think I should do Dad?" Well Son, both Grand Parents are here, plenty of Doctors around. She looks like she's in good hands. I think you should continue on to the Desert. The Officer asked me if I needed an escort to the Airport. Told him "No Sir". He said OK, Do me a favor......."Whats that Sir?" SLOW DOWN.; Apparently I was on the gas. Met my bro sndsmplr in the washes and ripped a bunch of Dunes. He left T-DAY morning to pick up 1 Horsepower (His Wife) and I sat on OLDS HILL the entire T-DAY. By myself, Contemplating Life! I'd call that a Duner! Peace

CHP once told me a few miles past the BP Station "The Dunes will always be there....Slow Down" and that was my first thought reading yore post. I could not imagine in that scenario with the Grand Mal that you kept heading towards Glamis. My First reaction :angryfire:

Then it sank in, considered the fact she was surrounded by loved ones and the mental state you were in, Life Choices to be made that would impact all around you...second reaction was

As a Duner you look at situations and react. Self Preservation is very important, get to the motherland and get yore head straight. The right choice was made, here you are today!

  3. The dream is a home built to our designs, unless we can find one in a small town, semi-remote area with some land. Near mountains, rivers or a lake, desert close and have actual seasons. Is that a Farm? maybe better would be a cabin. I love the beaches, but the wife loves the mountains more...no arguments from me. I'm not afraid of snow. Where that is I have some ideas, but this is the dream situation - a true retirement where we just chill, pursue hobbies that we feel like, sightsee and enjoy the outdoors until we like sitting by the fire inside more.

Issue is that my kids are 21, 20, 18 and 17.

I don't plan on being away of their next 10 years of young adult life...while they pursue college degrees, start their careers, buy their first homes and start families. We want to be here in CA while that all occurs.

We have our dream So-CA home, have been modifying it for my daughter and very near paying it off. The 3 of us will be very comfortable, centrally located to our family (our parents and our kids) and where my daughter can get her complex medical requirements met (only occur major cities).

Being 100% financially comfortable right now, right where we are is our only goal. My wife will retire first, her in next 2 years and I'll go a few more.

We like having options, ability to stay happy and comfortable right where we are or cash out big and do anything we want.

  4. Quote

Christianity emphasizes faith in Jesus Christ, who gives grace, empowerment, and guidance for living the moral life. [2] Judaism teaches a life of holiness through performing mitzvot and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the Bible's standards of social justice as laid down by the Prophets.

Choose your path and follow it best you can, all anyone can try to do.

My Dad has all the family trip videos of us in the 80's on VHS.

I think its a goodtime for him to work on a little project of transferring that to a newer media type...

Time to get these VHS tapes and do it myself. Lots of companies do it cheap now.

  7. Great advice in here, guy was ZERO interested in giving me any VIN info before I drove to Tehachapi to see it in person.

CRF250X and CRF450X still on the hunt for a decent deal for 1st time riders....not perfect, but also not clapped out POS like some stuff out there...
