So.......... anyone know what the story is behind the name?
My best guess would be cotton produced in the region of Mexicali. Still a lot of cotton fields south of the dunes. You have the town of Los Algodenes in Mexicali to the east of Buttercup/Cuervitos dunes.

There are lots of agents out there: on quads, SxS's, Buggies, and trucks. Also Helicopter flying over a couple of times a day. These are no BLM rangers that want to write tickets and checking passes, Border Agents are their securing our border. I have had Agents come into our camp trying to find owners for lost dogs, one guy every morning on a Tday trip would come into our camp and chat, we would give him a coffee to go.
Depends when that Tday trip was, things are a little different from a couple years ago.

There are lots of agents... it just depends on the time. There may only be one or two line agents on the fence at anyone time, but there are others on ATV's and buggies, and still more on the interstate. As with everything, its all dependent on the conditions. Right now, at night, there are more than a dozen BP agents in the dunes on OHV's, as it is very active. Its so active right now CHP and CalTran put up signs to warn motorists to look out for pedestrians on the highway.
That’s good to know, I’ll feel better when I get assigned to the area.

It is probably the safest place to be in all the dunes, Border Patrol has cameras on everything.
Cameras maybe but no agents to work the area.

What are the "ins and outs" (see what I did there? )?
I hope to buy a place in Prescott and it is likely to have a septic system. What do I need to know?
Do's?
Don'ts?
Tips and tricks?

Wonder how the highway to Ensenada is holding up? Epicenter was off the coast near the section of highway that was lost to the Pacific a few years ago.
