  1. Here are pics of the v-drive, Casale told the owner that the v-drive he is using will handle 3500 hp and the top fuel boats put a lot more stress on the v-drive than the slicks he will be running on the street. The drive shaft is in the center of chassis as well as the diff. There is a carrier set up on the drive shaft to take the angle off the drive shaft so it is parallel with the ground from the back of the cab to the diff.

  2. In the Phoenix area in general, the newer homes for the most part are on smaller lots. Older homes tend to have bigger lots and no HOA. My neighborhood is larger lots and a variety of sq foot on the homes. I have 2 RV gates, one on each side. The RV pad will hold 2 RV's and 2 trailers, the other gate leads to the shop in the back. Neighbor has the same set up as well. Problem is the neighborhood is a diamond, the surrounding area not so much. The neighborhood only has 2 streets into the subdivision and the neighborhood is a very tight nit community. I bet half the neighborhood are families with stay at home moms so anybody that doesn't belong in the neighborhood quickly gets reported to the police. I've been here 30 years, most homes are sold the last few years were sold through word of mouth, most of them were never listed on MLS. The schools for the neighborhood aren't very good so most of the kids go to charter schools. I guess people see the value in the neighborhood even though it isn't in the best area of Mesa.

I am not really seeing anywhere I can buy a beefy v drive to hold up to some power. Would be cool though.

I know there are trophy trucks running v-drives. I will see the owner of the A100 on Thursday, I will ask him about the V-drive set up he used. He wouldn't have used it if it wouldn't hold the amount of HP he plans on running through it.

What would be really cool would be a C5Z06 rear mounted trans like the Corvettes. Then move the motor back and do a shorter shaft and torque tube. The engineering to make the linkage would be insane.

The new Nascars are running a rear mounted sequential transmission on IRS. Not sure who builds them but I think they could hold the HP.

  5. I have a detached 22x25 garage in the back, won't post pictures as it is a total mess right now. Decided to strip the walls down to the studs, new electrical, new plumbing, insulate it and add air conditioning to it. It was built in the 1950's with no insulation and old cloth wrapped wire that was a fire waiting to happen. Everything is piled in the center of the shop while I finish it up. The older I get the less I like working in the heat in AZ.

As for tool storage, I have a very large tool box that is well organized, I know what drawer everything is in. The larger tools will be hung on peg board. Tools that come with a case like saws and drills that I don't use very often get stored in their case on shelves. I will post pictures when I have it all wrapped up.

Best thing I think I did was build a 10x10 storage shed for all the lawn tools, mower, shovels, etc and got them out of the shop. They take up a lot of real estate and I was tired of tripping over them. I thought about doing a 20' container but it is a code violation in our city if someone turns you in.

I used to pack a small box of tools for dune trips, etc. Got tired of doing that as well and just put together a basic set of harbor freight tools that stay in the trailer now.

  6. You must use a 1031 exchange administrator, if you touch the funds they become taxable. Basics are you have 45 days from the date of sale of your existing property to identify the replacement. You have 180 days from date of sale to close on the replacement. The reverse 1031 has the same time restrictions just reversed. 45 days from purchase of replacement property to identify the property you are selling and 180 days to sell the property

  7. I wanted to be in porn but came up short LOL. Three of my four kids went into the trades right out of high school and are doing extremely well. One was a welder for a  few years and got burned out. I'm self employed and health insurance is 100% out of my pocket, retirement is out of my pocket, no company match, vacation pay, etc is all on my dime. There is some freedom being self employed but it also comes with a lot of headaches especially when you have to have employees or have to work with subs or contract labor.

  8. The home my son bought a couple of years ago was owned by heavy smokers. They did all of the above, stripped the flooring, gutted the kitchen for new cabinets, scrubbed everything really good, then had a restoration company come in and clean the vents/ac unit and do their thing with the ozone machine. The ozone treatment was worth the cost, no hint of smoke when they were done. One of the other issues they pointed out were the yellow stains on the ceiling above the bed in the master and above the 2 chairs in the main room where the prior owners did most of the smoking. The yellow nicotine stains in the ceiling would bleed through the paint. They recommended priming those areas with Kilz (i think), wait a couple of days and see if the yellow would bleed through and keep applying the primer until it quit bleeding through.

Signature on delivery requirement costs the shipper an extra $10.

The shipper charges an extra $10 per order to require the signature on everything they ship.

Customer complains about shipping costs to the shipper.

Shipper explains the higher shipping costs and signature requirement to the customer.

Customer says: "I'm home all the time, take the signature requirement off and save me the $10"

Shipping company delivers package to customers front porch and it gets stolen.

Customer calls shipper and complains that they never received the package and that the shipper should refund or replace the stolen goods.

What does the shipper do to prevent this in the future?

Make it a policy to charge the extra $10 for the signature requirement but it is included in the total shipping cost and not disclosed to the customer. You may be out a sale if the customer doesn't like the shipping policy, but that is better than being out the part and the cost of shipping if it is stolen or disputed.

  10. Had a client that serviced them. Be careful on buying a used one. Like MWB said, they need to be cleaned regularly which most people don't do. Most of the failures he deals with are from the lack of cleaning and hard water deposits.

  11. I miss how quite and dead the dunes were from about 2009-2012. Hope it weeds out a number of the less desirable element that has been showing up lately. Don't care how high fuel costs go up, will still be hitting the dunes in the winter and the lakes in the summer. I think filling up the houseboat at powell will hurt this year.

  12. Bull riding. Always wanted to try it when I was younger. Now that I am older and wiser, not going to happen. Skydiving was a rush, wife took me for my birthday a few years ago. Don't know if she was trying to kill me off LOL. Scuba diving is awesome, wife loves it as well. Wish we could do it more often. Everything else on my bucket list can be accomplished with time and money.
