Following up on this thread. I FINALLY bought a truck. It honestly took me this long to make a decision and it finally came down to the cost of these "new" trucks. Market still hasn't really changed and I don't think it ever will. I couldn't swallow the pill of spending $50k+ on a truck with over 100k. I found a couple nice 2015-16 F250s and some 2011+ Chevys that were enticing, but there was a lot left to be desired and I wasn't going to pay the price tag for something I'd still want to upgrade. So I decided to look deep for a 7.3 and found a pretty darn clean one. It's a 2000 with 222k on the clock. Has all the necessary upgrades for towing including add a leaf, bags, bilsteins, tune, etc. And best part it's non catalyst so no smog issues. Since, i've put a new head unit in it to run Torque Pro to have all my gauges digital. I cleaned a good chunk of old oil off the engine bay and did a full detail. The truck looks great. It needs an O-ring replacement on the turbo pedestal and probably could use a replacement on the HPOP too, but it's not pressing at the moment. I'll also do a full service to trans and diffs. It has new ball joints, but will need new trackbar mounts, and new tie rod ends. I'll update the headlights to 05+ harley davidsons, rear view mirrors, and add some lower Baja Designs fog lights for pulling into the dunes at night. Also has a new fox stabilizer on it. All in all happy with the purchase, and spent WAY less than going the new truck route. LRS posted his sons truck up forsale which was very tempting, but I had already made on offer on this unit so went this direction. Thanks for all the input on this thread guys, definitely helped me make an educated decision. Looking forward to putting it to work

I think in the sand dunes industry, whats looked over more than anything else is proper belts, seats, and how to wear/adjust them to keep you safe. I see SO many guys just haphazardly clip in a loose belt. If you roll at anything over 25 your belts stretch a ton. Also see a grip of people not wearing the crotch strap... Then I'd suggest probably 75% of cars out there have suspension seats. While comfortable, they compress and expand by more than a foot in a big crash. So if we want to talk about safety, every car should take a look at their belts, how they mount them, how they wear them, the seats, and the quality of the seats. You should be SUPER strapped down. I always say, they aren't meant to be comfortable, they are meant to keep you safe and anytime you sit in a moving car, you should have 5 points strapped in. If your belts and seats aren't correct, helmet or not, you're gonna make contact with one of the bars. You just jiggling around in your seat to see if your head will hit a bar does not constitute for a proper test of belt and seat viability.

Hey guys,
Thought i'd post my motorhome up here as well. It's up on the internets elsewhere and i've received quite a few hits but I'm tired of dealing with weird people. So if someone on here is interested, i'll definitely take a discount. Here's the info:
2011 Coachmen Freelander by Forest River 23CB Class C Motorhome. In fantastic shape with 66k miles on the gas V10. Received a complete inspection and all fluids changed in March of 2022, receipts available, only 1,000 miles since. I bought this unit last year from the original owner who was an older gentleman who had this motorhome garaged. It has a new roof from RVroof.com that is sealed tight with no leaks. Brakes stop hard and the tires are in great shape. Has a 5k hitch receiver with a tow package as well as a brake controller. 4kw Onan generator with only 205 hours absolutely purrs and the coach also has a built in 20 gallon LP gas tank. This unit is perfect for touring as its size is ideal for national parks, or navigating tight streets. It served us very well, but we are looking for something to leave at our campsite for next winter instead of traveling.LED lightingHardwood floorsMassive storage bayBluetooth head unitTV on a swivelClean titles in hand -

This was his single seat right? I vaguely remember seeing someone post it as a chassis only on a flatbed last year on instagram. Maybe it was you?

Thanks man. Still the same DD I built a few years that I had a big build thread on here. Put it on the lid last season so put a new body on it this off season and did a bunch of upgrades. Really happy with it

I had a bitchin weekend. Didn't get the motorhome stuck, ripped smooth fantastic dunes, and drank ice cold beers. Doesn't get any better than that!
By the way, there's killer open dunes from the backside of patton, all the way to glamis on the westside. Don't be afraid to get away from the crowds. We've duned that entire area a ton this season. Some of the best lines in the dunes without a single track on them. (and this is all coming from someone who likes duning in Glamis better, just can't stand the crowds on holiday weekends)

The 2 seat with the V6 that's been up for a couple months is a bitchen car. I'd love to yank the GM and put a 3.5 honda in it. That car would scream. The black one with the front end a-arm conversion is cool too and would be a fun car for less than $15k. That yellow one above is down the street from my office and I really wanted to convince myself to turn it into a cool project, but just don't have a use for it. Aceco/Foddrills are bitchin cars for sure

Went through quite the transformation this off season. Sold the toy hauler, bought a Class C moho and a flatbed to "simplify" my setup and make it more comfortable for the lady and the new pup. Also did a ton to the car including rewiring it, new body, new dash, windshield, etc. Went out Thursday to Gordon's as we usually do for Holiday weekends now. Was very happy with how to moho towed and it was all in all a pleasurable experience other than flooding the bathroom at Red Earth due to the bathroom sink being on and the pump being on while filling, and the pup pissing on the new bed during the drive...
Went on a dune run on on Friday once the rest of the group got there. Did a decent rip over to Test hill, and headed back for lunch after. Jammed back out to the hill to meet some of the group and snapped a microstub at the top of the hill. Really frustrating because I put them on the bench and checked em out before the trip and they seemed solid. Called back to camp and of course all of us left our spares at home. A guy at the hill who was camped at Buttercup offered to meet someone at his camp to get me his spare. @Reece Pettersen went over and snagged it for me. When replaced it at the hill and got me back to camp. We had a friend headed out Friday night, so he met with another friends dad on the side of the freeway on the way out to get me spare parts. Unfortunately when those showed up they were the wrong size. 31 spline axle and 27 spline hub. So off to Yuma I went on Saturday morning to get one from ORBS. Unfortunatley they only had 1 left and it had 14mm studs. So headed back to camp and drilled out my adapters. Ripped a boot and the brake line in the process. So closed off the brakes with vice grips, and hose clapped a rag over the boot.
Didn't get wrapped up til Saturday afternoon. We went for a short cruise for sunset and had a blast just hangin in the dunes and driving the RC cars. The sand was really nice, but there was some wicked witches eyes that will cause some problems if you aren't paying attention. Packed it up early and hit the road Sunday morning. Somewhat frustrating to be wrenching on the car so much this weekend. But still a blast to be back in the sand with a great group. Will get the car fixed and back out asap.
Moral of the story, bring spares if you have microstubs...

I've been using this for years to dump at home. Will pump about 30' or so pretty easily.
This looks like a good answer to my issue. Thanks

Oh I’m no newbie to dumping. I usually dump at red earth on my way back, but last trip I had my toy hauler with me it was blowing 50mph at red earth and I didn’t feel like stopping. My other option is my driveway, but currently has 2 boats on it and it’s a pain in the ass to move everything

Anyone know of a free or cheap dump site in the Costa Mesa area? Called around to a few different RV campgrounds in the area but they all want $20+ to dump. Not a big deal if that's what I need to do, just thought i'd see if anyone knows of anything else.

Help with a new (to me) truck

I looked from Idaho to Texas, and found a few really interesting ones. One that I almost pulled the trigger on was a 2013 F250 with 75,000 miles, single older gentleman owner, unmolested for $33,900. But it was used as a tow vehicle through snow in northern Utah, so there was frame rust. And those 11-14s need the turbo upgrade. Also needed tires, brake controller, etc etc. I would've been in it around $45k once I was done with my additions to it. It would've still been a decent buy, but couldn't justify it. The 7.3 will do everything I ask of it, and was less than half the cost.
