Here is a friends 2000 mid-engine dual sport.

This was Cooley's premier car at the SSSS that year.

Way ahead of its time.......2" hollows, 4 wheel bypasses, Fortin mid-boards, windshield...

pretty sure this was a board members car on here.  He was the one who updated / redid the car.  Very cool car.

curious how old those are, Love seeing old STUs, they last forever

These have a date code of 1966!! And were replaced by a nicer set with a date code of 1978 🤣. Rubber must have been better back then.

    Great question.

I prefer a 2 seater so have to convince myself to go with a 4/5 seater. I need doors cause I’m old and fat. I wouldn’t want a PBS trans. Not because they aren’t a good trans but my understanding is parts are scarce or non-existent. I don’t know if I would fit being 6’5” so might need mods for that. And I don’t know what dash or gauges are there or what ecu. That’s just off the top of my head from the info listed in the ad. So what would I spend on this car after buying it? Maybe $50k or more? An S5D is about $18.5k just for trans. An Albins is $35k. I’m looking at cars that are much later model, have all the stuff I’m interested in with Albins trans and are in the high $100k range so like $180k-$190k. For my situation, I would rather spend an extra $20k-$30k and get a newer car that was built with all the stuff I want. I may very well spend a bunch more and build a new car exactly how I want it. I plan to make a decision in the next few weeks so I posted this thread in case somebody has a car that fits the bill and is thinking about selling or planning to sell at end of season.

have you priced out a new alumicraft build?

last I checked in with them in late 22 it was about 175K for a 4 seater, minus motor and trans.  Is that still in line?

Yep I saw you had this car. She is a clean one! You need to put the weight box nose cone on. Did this used to be Hanks car?

I still have the nose cone. I bought it from my father in law, who got it from a guy in HEMET. I haven’t had a chance to take it out yet… so hoping to make the next roundup

Glad it worked out for you.  But isn't the shop (or their insurance) liable, since they were working on the system that caused the fire?

you can guarantee state farm will enter subrogation to try and recoup as much as they can from the shop or the shops insurance.  Also, a lot of these shops run business without the proper insurance in place.
