I don't see how those closures can be enforced without a massive amount of manpower placed throughout the dunes.

    Screw em.

In the South Dunes this weekend, I saw one ranger the entire time, I was there for 6 days.  Nobody even came in camp and checked passes.

what dunes in buttercup would you recommend riding? i'll be in gordon's but have been thinking of taking a drive that way one day

The dunes are nice and smooth, not a lot of them, so you end up back tracking over your lines a lot.  We will make a run to dune in Gordon's as well.  Camping is easy, and not a lot of crazies...........

    :poule:

Overturning Prop 13 will be the final nail in the coffin for sure, none of us can afford that.

This entire country double and triple taxes us all day long, the Glamis pass is another form of taxation...............hate it all.

Funny, How we felt about quads 25 to 30 years ago.

Edit to add, now think it is just the sign and drive thing.

When people have access to easy money, this is what happens.  The Hispanic community during Covid made out the best, moved most people up the income ladder for sure.  You see it everywhere.  This isn't racist, it is reality. Along with more opportunity in Construction and other trade fields of sorts, they took advantage of it all, good for them.  Havasu and Glamis have changed a lot in the past 4 years.

But in the end, most of my peeps come from a background where our Parents and Grandparents taught us how to camp and respect people and the land, both of these things are missing right now, doesn't really matter where you go off roading, you see it everywhere.

Definitely! I'm good with that enforcement too. I still remember it in the early 00's and the correction shortly after.

I didn't get mad per se, but I wanted to make clear that just because they are listening to a certain type of music and flying a certain type of flag, automatically means they are trashing the place. I'm not defending the scumbags. Matter of fact, they're not welcome in my camp. Boy have times changed though. I'm starting to believe it's a SxS thing, too now after reading some other's perspectives. Polaris to blame some too, maybe. New generation, maybe. Sucks all around.

We have rules in our camp, and newcomers are all told, the majority of our group has camped with us for over 20 years:

    • We are Solar Powered, so no late night shenanigans.
    • No littering
    • No camp racing
    • Don't be a jackass
    • no fireworks or laterns

If you want to do any of these things, go outside of camp or don't camp with us.  Pretty simple:classic_biggrin:

  6. Rangers could do two things and a lot of this would go away:

    - Go back to pinch points, sand highway and the entrance to Olds.

    - Have a group of Rangers in the morning going into camps and just making contact.  If you see lots of trash, write them a ticket.     They will learn fast who are the issues and who isn't.

Trust me, the bad element doesn't want Rangers anywhere near them

On a Positive note I haven't read of anyone Dying this weekend. Normally it seemed BIG weekends out there at least one person would lose their life..

Just saw a video of someone burned badly................

  8. I wouldn't live actually on the course, but golf course communities are nice.  I go entire weekends and only drive my golf cart.  Just because you live on the course doesn't mean you have access to the course, in most cases that is a no.  With being in a Golf cart community, it truly feels like you live on vacation all of the time.

For myself, when I want to go golfing (about once a week), I load up my cooler, throw everything into the golf cart and drive to the course, I haven't taken my truck to our golf course in years, love the simplicity.  Golf carts lower the blood pressure for sure, HAHA
