    Starlink rocks.

We use it at the dunes, at our house, camping in the forest.

Get the RV version and take it everywhere.

It is sounding like a great deal. we can't replace the internet (cox) at our house because too many wifi items are tied into it (doorbell/cameras/HVAC/appliancies). I also have Cox Business at my office, I have downsized and I am the last person there. But Cox does our phone service too, as part of the "bundle". I don't get very many calls (non-spam) on the land line so I might just ditch that too.

I use my RV version everywhere I go. Mexico, Houseboat, Glamis, Camping in the mountains. It's amazing, and FAST! Best part is you can turn it on and off by the month if you don't need it. GAME CHANGER!

Do you have multiple routers and or cables and just take the dish? Or do you pack up everything each time? If the router and "stuff" isn't that expensive, it might be worth it to have everything setup at the office and another setup in the RV, then just grab the dish and go??

We run one in the washes, on a holiday weekend speeds are about 50-100mbps, Depending on the time of day. I looked out my window and could count 8 other starlinks one weekend, so can imaginehow many are out there. Better than a hot spot and enough to run teams/ zooms and stream movies etc.

Do you use is anywhere else? Like I mentioned, I would like to move it from my office/RV/?? how easy is it to relocate?

  4. So, I am tired of paying for internet at my house and my office and not having it while traveling in the RV. I don't think I can get rid of the internet at the house as too many things are tied into it. But my office is $300/month and I am not there very often. We also camp at Campland (San Diego) for 6 months a year. The internet is horrible there. We are planning on dong more RV travel in the next few years too, I don't really need internet at the desert/river but I guess it couldn't hurt to have.

I admittedly don't know much about Starlink (although I do know they just raised prices). Does anyone here use Starlink? Are the speeds good? Is it easy enough to take back and forth to differnt locations (office/RV/??). Any real life input is appreciated.

Hmmm, and you already had 2 Raptors......confirmed.

I wonder if RG will give you a unicorn rainbow wrap on your Speed car?

Please, if you are going to slander me, get it straight, 3 Raptors.

And if it took a rainbow wrap to actually get my Speed SxS, I would probably do it. Eff it....put a effing unicorn horn on it too.

Have trans jack at the in-law's garage you can use. (Garage you helped with the sprinklers on). Give me a call when you want to grab it.

Thanks Dan. I am heading to Monterey for Dylans graduation. I'll get a hold of you next week. Thanks again!

  7. We have used collection companies for unpaid invoices. Never once has a collection company actually received any of our money. Everyone just blows them off and then we never get paid. The collection company just says "sorry, we couldn't collect". So you being on the other side, it sounds like you can just blow them off.

WTH!! I’ve had a few busted fingers and swollen hands after 20yrs+ of otl and this is how you repay the dedicated! Gloves!?! What’s next bigger balls move the line closer!? When was the last time the tournament needed more teams?

Either way don’t care I’ll be there!

Hahaha, there are a lot of OMBAC members that didn't like the idea either. I am a traditionalist and had a hard time with it (I am on the OTL Committee) but change is needed to keep the game going. The team count has been dropping over the last 5 or so years. We (OMBAC) are really trying to get new players out in the sand. Hopefully after playing a little with the glove, they will want to try it without a glove. But honestly, we played with gloves all winter and it was NICE not having sore fingers. LOL IF the glove division takes off......I might just join in :)

  9. This Saturday is the annual OMBAC Over-The-Line BEERFEST!! It is an over the line tournament and beerfest all in one! The OTL tourney is sold out but you can still get tickets to enjoy the BEERFEST. It is this Saturday May 13, 2023 at Mariners Point (across from Bahia Hotel). One of the few chances to enjoy a cold beer with your feet on the sand. Tickets are at Events.com. Use the promo code: campland for $15 off

    Life choices man...

Everyone knows me by my drinking antics.  I rarely drink now at all.  Havasu is what you make of it.  We have plenty of friends here.  @Kevin lives here and we do a lot of stuff and hangout.  @2dasand started up an offroad group here in Havasu that does SXS runs all the time.  We do year round boating.  Winter months, lots of off-roading, hiking, tons of city planned events, lots of car shows.  Winter Havasu is pretty bitchin.  Bike night on main street every Wednesday, Car night on Thursdays.  Plus, making new friends and such.  We'll have game nights and such.  When's the last time as an adult you sat with friends and played cards or a board game?  Great times.  If you have a dog, the dog park people here are in full force.  My wife takes the dogs out there a lot. My wife started having us take "adult interest" classes with the local community college.  It's fun to get out and meet people.  We've met a lot of nice people.  There are a lot of GD.com people here.  We all kind of lay low but run into each other.

And of course, you have the bars.  We go out at least once a week.  Go have a drink.  If you know where to go, Havasu is a very social place and lots of fun.  We always sit at the bar and it's never a dull time.  Have a drink or 2 and then call it a night.

My wife is a San Diego native.  I was in SD for 32 years.  She said she would never leave but coming here for 2 weeks...on day 5 she didn't want to go back.  Day 10...she told me she wanted to move here.  It's nice to be in a small town.  Plus, living here, the party stays down at the lake or in the bars.  Our neighborhood is so nice and quiet.  We can have a pool party, sit in the hot tub and watch the sun set over the lake (we have a lake view).  Life is easy here.  It took me a few months to adjust.  I had no idea how consumed by the chaos I had become.  My physical and mental health are way better here.  Slowing down is a good thing.

I still check Zillow daily. I have a couple close friends that live on the north/east side of town. A house popped up right next door to my buddy. I knew I was going out there a week after it got listed. So I planned on looking at it and hopefully putting in an offer. It sold the day before we went out there. I had 3 other houses I wanted to look at. All of them went pending that weekend. WTF! This was a couple months ago. The market had been dropping and then it jumped right back up. Now it is dropping slowly.

I bought my house as a second home in Lake Havasu during COVID.  We were going back and forth and then stayed here two weeks and said screw it, let's move here full-time.  I sold my CA home and gone.  It's been awesome and we love it.

Since then, AZ has turned blue and some cost of living have gone up.  Utilities, food, gas...  I feel bad for other red states with an influx of Californians.  They HATE us.  A conservative in CA is a liberal anywhere else.  You have no idea how conditioned you are to liberal ideologies and acceptance.

Wherever you are thinking, do a deeper dive into the area.  Spend a few weekends/days at different times and seasons.  Also, real estate is not as cheap as it once was.  Out of staters moving in and the economy has screwed up the entire nation.  There is still a grand illusion that other states are cheaper.  Not anymore.

We started looking at houses in LHC just before COVID. Now I wish we would of bought then. We are the kind of the same boat. We planned on doing more short trips for a few years until we can spend more time out there. My biggest complaint about LHC is.....everytime we go out there we drink wayyyyy tooooo much. I don't know what else there is do there other than go to The Desert Bar, Desert Martini, The Office or even Smiths. LOL

I am a San Diego Native and I love it here. As much as I as I am sick of CA, I love San Diego. But even this city is going south quickly. I would want a house in SD and LHC

  12. I've always been a truck guy. Once I thought I would give a car a chance. I bought a Cayenne. I had it for about a year, sold it and bought a Ford Raptor. Man, that Porsche was always having issues. It was $1000+/per month in just repairs/service. Porsches are cool cars, but I won't do it again. And yes I know a Cayenne is the worst Porsche you can buy.

  13. Update: I got home and jumped in the car. The alarm goes off and it would not start again. I hit the door lock button on the fob and then tried to start it and it fired up. Then it started like 5 times in a row. So I drove it over to the local locksmith to get a new key made/programmed. All he had was the programmable key (no door locks/unlocks, etc..) So I bought the new key, he used the scanner thing to program it and IT WORKS!!! He said there were around 18 error codes....all related to the original key not being able to be read. So if the kid wants all the buttons on her key, she will have to buy it herself.

    Thanks for all the help!

  14. It is the ford alarm. We have owned the car for a long time and passed it down to the kid. The key fob hasn't worked for "for a long time" (I am not sure what this really means, I just found out it didn't work) and she has been manually unlocking and locking the doors.

So I unlock the door (manually), open the door and the alarm goes off. There is no way to turn in off. It will eventually go off by its self. I only messed with it a little bit last night, in the rain. I'll try to reproduce what ever I did to get it to start when I get home.

I still think getting a new key fob will be required. Not sure if that is the problem but it can't be helping.
