  1. Welcome back Doug  Took a ~8 year break ourselves and back at it a few years now. These days it's wherever the wind blows, from Gecko to Vendor Flats, and of course good old 13.5 :hethan: Look forward to catching up out there this season!

  2. Had the pleasure to kick off the season a little earlier than normal just the passed weekend! The W was coming in around 25-30mph on Saturday for ~10 hours, momma G is doing some last minute prep for the season  Sunday was beautiful and the dune dogs Chip and Dale enjoyed hanging out at the Flag Pole :smilie_flagge13:  @ChEFF there was nothing but ripples brother, didn't cross one track the whole trip!   edit to add: those are ripples across pad 3 and we were the only ones, had pads 3/5 to ourselves :hethan:

  3. Depends how much time you plan to spend in it and what you want to do with it... is it just hauling cars? Might you be camping in it or using it for a storefront? Working on one now that will be used for all of the above. Coin floors, e-track on floors and the walls at 2' and 5', two 3x6 concession windows passenger side with a 20"x30" RV window on driver's side, RV electrical with converter setup, LED lighting strips on a switch, flood lights outside passenger and rear, 110 outlets above, below work bench, centered passenger and drivers side, and an outlet outside (put them where you may need them), RV step on side door, RV latch side door as opposed to the lever style (don't want some jackass locking me in), Fantastic Fan with the MaxAir vent cover, diamond plate across the tongue to hold the mini-split going on it ... no overhead cabinets in the front - leaving it open for the air handler for the mini-split, bench and lower cabinets in the front, insulation of walls and roof, electric tongue jack, tapped 12v pig tail drop top/center (into running lights) for a backup camera since I have to put it within inches of the 5th wheel in order to fit into a spot... really all depends on what you want to use it for, many of the options I'm looking at I wouldn't put if I was just hauling toys.

Just remember, it can always get worse.

Newsom will now have an opportunity to fill her seat with his choosing.

This right here... the dems and her staff wanted her to go a while back and not let her seat wait until teh election. It wouldn't surprise me if we eventually found out there was someone with a pillow...

The temps are cooling due to a storm moving thru.  Should make for some smooth dunes, oh wait they already are.

Most of the group are making the first trip of the year the following weekend, If I can get everything finished in time so will I

I'm looking at next weekend as well

  6. No on the cellular. On busy trips it gets congested just like the phones do. Starlink all the way and the foam plan. It’s ~700 startup and 150 a month when you use it, pause anytime. The in motion one would be great if you needed it while on the go but the roam is just fine, 15 minute setup wherever you go and you are dialed in.

Anyone going out next weekend?  Planned to do a full weekend on Gecko before the hordes come.  I think my wingman is going to bitch out but my girls are deadset on going.  We'll be on quads.

Gotta rethink my whole Glamis situation now that we have a hauler and my usual camp bud is having some issues.  Chummin still waiting on his Speed.  Gonna need new friends....

Maybe just old friends in a different location  No-go for me next weekend but looking at both weekends after that :hethan:

Will you have hats for sale? Mines getting a little nasty.

Yessir, we have a small handful for this weekend and will have more printed up before Veterans Day. You looking for the RWB or black and grey? Let me know at 951-31four-four344 and I'll set one aside for you

  9. She's not going to win the beauty contest at the state fair but she'll get your shitbox to the dunes or whever you want to go, just keep putting gas in'r

Up for sale is my old tow pig. This is a two owner (bought from my father-in-law) 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD Extended Cab with the 8.1L 496ci big block and Alison transmission.

    The Good:

    -Freshly replaced crankshaft position sensor

-New exhaust, including 2 brand new CATS (thanks to the faulty crankshaft position sensor).

-New shoes (see tread in the pics below)

-Bed rails and 7-pin inside the bed for 5th wheel

-Bullet-proof 4x4 drive train with the 8.1/Alison combo and a fairly new transfer case (upgraded forks)

-Have a camper shell that matches the "old man gold" color if you want it

    -Brake controller

    -Only 121k miles

    The Bad:

-As strong as that big block pulls it won't pull passed a gas station without stopping  seriously, you are looking at ~10/11mpg when not towing and ~6mpg when you are towing.

-It's "old-man gold" color and the wrinkle in the bed from the Dunkin Donuts drive through

-Stupid ABS light comes on. It's a typical Chevy/GMC thing and you'd be free to purchase the ~$600 circuit card that makes that light go away or I can toss in a code reader that does the same thing...

-Another typical Chevy/GMC thing from this era was the LCD in the instrument cluster, it goes out at times so you can't see the PRND321 and mileage lights. Again, you'd be free to yank the dash and replace it or you can smack the trip switch a few times and check the mileage when you need to, like I do

-The 26.5 gallon tank is a ballbuster for long trips, plan accordingly. This is a thirsty girl and the "low fuel" light comes on when you have like 5 miles left :coocoo:

-It's an extended cab instead of a crew cab

    The Reality:

This truck is for someone looking for a tow pig (not a commuter) that can legit handle a toy hauler, bumper, or 5'er and not have to spend ~$30k on a 25 year old diesel to do it. Need a farm truck that you don't mind letting sit in the sun for years on end?... this may be your ticket. With only 121k miles this drive train has a lot of life left in it.

    $5,500

Any questions feel free to call or text at nine5one-314-434four

  10. Stickman, I made a quick trip to the G spot  to scratch and itch. No white coats in sight and the weather was perfect. Mr Red said to tell you he’s doing great and he’s staying busy, keeping watch over the dunes which are pretty active right now with all the rain last winter.

An early morning ride today led me to an entire buffet of Sand Food! It’s been quite a while since I’d seen any out there and wandering upon a whole village of these little parasites was quite spectacular. I had already eaten breakfast before the ride and wasn’t hungry so I left the Sand Food alone :dude:

Cross Creek is where I got the hole in one.

Nice! Haven't played it yet, Thursday will be my first and I'm especially looking forward to the no cell reception up there   If you are local around here check out https://paddyshackgs.com/ and Paddyshack Golf Society on FB. Weekly Thursday roll up and several tourneys throughout the year, almost 1 a month. Good bunch of folks and a lot of fun

  12. Incredible, congrats!  Never holed it for me and at this point almost hope I never do... play every Thursday with a group, this week we have 48 people at Cross Creek... would be a very expensive 19th hole for me and it's just not worth it

8.1 / Allison with a short bed will pass anything but a gas station. What size tank on that thing like 13 gallons   I know it's 25ish but when you start towing it seems like it's 13ish.  Queen Creek to Flagstaff was a three tank each way experience for one of the guy's in the old group. Said he got worried if he couldn't see the next gas station while he was filling up.

it's like 26.5 and it needs to be three times that. Towing that 43' 5'er from home to G it's damned near a full tank to get to Westmoreland which is the next gas station... if I have my foot in it up the grade I will run about 2 miles short, if I take it easy on the beast it comes in with a gallon to spare  ... started carrying jugs with me and just tossing an extra 5gal in around Ocotillo just to save my sanity.
