If you're on this web-site regularly like most of us, you're a Duner. The Expense it takes to participate in our world is High. Factor in this obsession and, how can you retire? Unless you invented toilet paper, you'll need a job. Unless your Dad invented the machine that makes Cheetos, you'll need a job. Unless you're the heir to the throne, you'll need a job. OR...............find a less expensive (cheaper) hobbie. And if you are looking for that less expensive Hobby......It is not Golf! Peace
I was thinking about taking up building rockets with $100 bills. Savings will be huge.

Retirement isn’t pretty! Happening now…
Damn. Good news: better eating than the squirrels you usually hit/harvest on the side of the road.
Bad news: sorry about your pickemup truck.

Happy to help when you start looking for the Class A, I've researched the crap out of 'em. Also, knowing how you drive I wouldn't want a S4S with a Whippled 415+cui LS...

I have been trying to sell the idea to my wife of retiring. in Baja, actually went and look at houses and property in Los Barillas, we actually came back saying we would be bored. The thought was to put toys and Moho in storage in SD, and fly up and do our vacations in the states and live in mex....................wife said no. If she dumps me, I still might do it
One thing to consider about Mexico: no flushing of TP. Have your BMs gotten better or worse with age? Mine haven’t…

I have been contemplating this for a few years. Several changes in life have given me a new perspective. I'd like to transition into self employment with a business that can be full time or part time so I could travel and dune more. No desire to stop working completely, just less some times during the year.A ny ideas that require less than several hundred K initial investment? Feet pictures on only fans is not panning out like I thought it would.
18 hours ago, Realbadlarry said:PS.... OnlyFans should NOT be your retirement plan......#Fatoldguytoefungus is NOT making me any money......yet.
You guys just need to wait for the subscriptions to start racking up once the algorithm picks you up. Don't worry, you'll be trending before you know and getting mad duckets of casholine for motorhomes with giant pictures of your feet on them.

Sun comes up around 5 am.
You can sleep and drink, at home.
I generally don’t drink (I suck at it), but if I ran that many gallons through a quad… Yeah, I’d need some booze to deal with the pain.

1-2?! If you're not burning 15-20 gallons on a quad, you're there for the wrong reasons.
Lol, yeah, I was talking in 4 stroke terms. 2-smoke… Yeah, lots of fuel burned there. My ATC 250R burns over a gallon just to Olds and back.

Definitely cheaper. 1, maybe 2 5g jugs for most trips…

Word,.. fortunately ABC doesn't need to sell. I'm sure there's a 'floor', but minus that, I can keep it.
As I may have mentioned (in a previous post), I'm going BIG once I sell it. We're talking Class A, stacker and an SCU S4S 415ci+ stroker with whipple .. and my current idea is to have my 2nd sand car be a light nimble 2 seater with a crazy HP/weight ratio.
My old plan was 2 identical SXSs (which I had).. then that got burned up.. literally.. and I realize that we just don't do enought dirt/rocks to make the SXS's worth it. I'm basically a 'sand guy' and want 2 badass sandcars.. We can do Glamis 6 months and venture to the other sand states for 10-14 day trips on the other.
Thanks Crusty.
abc
PS. I'll need help when I look for my Class A. I know HP will need to be a factor towing a double loaded stacker.
Damn, ABC back to terrorizing the dunes? Let us know when you’re headed out so we can either watch or stay home.

Other than the tax on your lifestyle.....company phones are free.
Took mine swimming last summer. New one the next day.
Whenever one of my employees makes a habit of destroying phones, I pick the other brand for his replacement and watch the rage commence at trying to move everything across platforms.

Kind of funny story about this........... My wifes grandma had "rented" a phone from the phone company for no-one knows how long. when she passed away, the phone bill came in & it had "equipment rental", $1.38 (or something equally silly). best we could tell, she was paying them $1.38/month for 40 years........... her husband took care of the bills & when he passed away (in the early 80's) she just did what he did & did not question it. Pac-Bell made some money on that phone. LOL.
Dayum. $660 phone.

Let’s get this straight. You guys want to load a trailer with crap from your garage and haul it out to the dunes in hopes that people will want it so you don’t have to drag it back home?!! All while taking time out of your dune trip to horse trade instead of ride? This sounds like more effort than just posting it for sale or trade which we already are too lazy to do!
Well fawk, when you say it like that…
Fine. Summertime thing?

Maybe word of mouth, everyone meets with their chit in the back a truck or on a trailer in one of the washes (not at 12AM at a rest stop @Mac/@TheSPAINishLover) one afternoon on a busy weekend? Post a thread on what they're bringing.
Gotta be some leeway in the ISDRA rules that wouldn't necessarily prohibit such a gathering (not event, no charge at the "door", etc)?

Was a fun race.
And yeah, chit show, but normal. It’s a heavy lift to put on an F1 race. One thing that surprised me was running it in Nov when the avg night temps are in the 40s.

Just read a post from his wife. She is outraged that people are saying he lost his battle to cancer. She isn’t saying what he died of. I’m confused
She's going through hell, I can't imagine losing my wife (same age) right now. Whatever it was, end result really sucks.
RIP Kyle.

Is the grass greener? Retirement, what does it really mean?

Maximizing passive income alleviates a lot of this. Pensions, home rentals, or other things that give you an income without touching the nest egg help a lot. Parents bought houses, Dad manages them, but has used property management companies as well if it makes sense. Still work, still not fully retired, but they're also not looking at a dwindling nest egg and it doesn't take up much time for them. Dad spent a similar amount on rentals homes and with SS (BIG MONEY! LOL) and AF money is making more than he did as a software engineer.
That being said, its not without stress, and you have to be an arsehole sometimes when people start abusing things. Not for everyone.
