You always get the most money from a private sale unless you are trading it in and buying a new car

It's been nuts lately.  We have the wife's car listed.  Only 1 bite, no real interest.  Did above on kbb.com and they're burning her phone down with offers beyond our ad.  Would take them up on it...

But no one has the car we want to replace hers with, so patience.

Do you have a CEO position available?  Min 7-figure total comp.  Need to EAs.  Private jet membership.  Etc.

Nope.  I do have an entry level mirror-fogger position.  For you, I'll go $27.50/hour.

That being said, if anyone has a 20-year old that knows what tools are, wants to work, and doesn't mind travelling most of the year, I'm hiring.  $25-ish per hour.  Need some assembly people for my Speed UTV style "assembly line" (single person per buildout, top to bottom) if you don't want to live in a hotel 9 months.

Yep.  The $25 and down jobs, most just collect unemployment anyway since they can work side-hussles and collect unemployment.  I have a bunch of senior guys doing 75% of the install along with some of their college-age kids who are getting experience learning a trade while getting paid more than their friends will after their Sociology degree results in a hotel clerk job or bank teller...

Lumber Package Quote came in today. We guesstimated high @ $88,000 with the Construction loan.

Total $86,500. Whew.........I was worried it would be enormously higher than the $88k. Time to order the lumber.

    Peace

Lumber prices have been falling quite a bit lately.  Hopefully steel follows suit soon

You didn't get omlets made to order for breakfast or steaks(or fish) cooked to order every friday evening, with steak and lobster one friday per month? Your chowhalls didn't have a self serve ice cream sunday bar? The college freshman fifteen has nothing on the 1-stripe 30!

Yeah, though in those far-flung places the salad was previously frozen.  "Steak" is a loose term.

But, for "free", it wasn't bad if you learned to ignore the Polish security troops swinging rifles around with little discipline...

Meh.  I've been in transient housing in Bagram, Kandahar and Qatar.  You people are nearly as disgusting.

Your DFACs are a lot better than Navy mess halls though.  One can eat only so much chili mac...

Jeezus! This is why nobody ever wants to argue with you 😅

I also doubted the speeds at first since I tend to hit those numbers every now and then on the street bike, but once I start to think of how fast I can get up there and back down I seemed to believe it more. I imagine they accelerate relatively as fast. Also the effect of no sound and camera stability can snuff the brain. I've had gopro video of me on track too and when I get home with all the excitement to share, it never looks as fast as it really is.

Yeah. Same with outside shots, terrain, etc. Worst are fisheye lenses since things stay in the periphery longer than you expect.

Display says 6200rpm in the 148mph screenshot. Grimmjeeper using a 0.65 ratio (5th), 5.2:1 final (there’s an underdrive apparently in the C8s) and 305/30-20s confirms. :dunno:

Dunno man. When he slows down to 75ish, looks considerably slower. All I know is no onboard ever looks fast…

I don't know about that. They could never get 22' money for a 21'. Plain and simple to me. Loss there + taxes + new reg, etc etc. It's too much a loss. It's simply an employee mishap. Of course he's fired. Goes without saying. Mr Customer, we're truly sorry this happened. At this point we are prepared to cover any damages (your rock chips) and provide you with every ancillary service our store provides, to include dent and ding, tire and wheel, windshield, extended roadside, key replacement, paint and fab protection all for 5 years, a full detail with ceramic coating, an extended service contract on all aspects mechanical for 5 years and a written promise to pay you full retail for your car when you are ready to upgrade.

Point is, any corvette owner understands the temptation of driving this car like you stole it and sure it can sometimes take over the bad decision easily. Cost the guy his job, and well, at least he had the data that shows not much harm done. If the dude did doughnuts for 10 minutes straight and was drifting it on an open lot, may be worse I think. What recourse did he really have? Dealer could easily offer to inform the CHP to issue a wreckless citation to the tech. Mr customer would've probably refused that offer I think. Meh, just my .02

That Reddit thread has 2.5M views and thousands of comments in a couple of weeks. Dealer was getting calls non stop for comment, YouTube video was blowing up, articles everywhere.

Dealer really didn’t have a choice. For them, this turns a bad situation into sorta decent press (“we handle our sheeyit and take care of the customer, honest”). Owners of fast cars like this all fear/know it’s gonna get hooned to some extent. It’s nice to see the dealer handling it without the usual games.

Dealer also won’t hurt as badly in this market.  I was offered $7k over my OTD price on my Mustang by a competing Ford dealer to trade in on a new Mach 1 when I went to check it out.

I use a Hario v60 pourover coffee maker with a gooseneck kettle. Set the water temp to 195, 20 grams of coffee and 360 grams of water. I usually get beans from local roasters. Freshly roasted coffee is generally way better with a much more complex flavor than what you’d find in the grocery store. It’s kind of complicated but I enjoy the process of it. The beans can be kind of pricey but it’s still way cheaper than stopping at Starbucks every day.

and so he swindles the dealer into a new 2022? That's a little much no? Would love to know how that conversation went.

Probably more like, "we've determined that our tech could've smoked the hellcat in a new 2022 model. Let's review your options". 😂😂

I don't think he swindled the dealer into a new 2022.  Keep in mind he had effectively a brand new 2021 (something like 800 miles on the clock per the Reddit thread).  I think the dealer's employee abused his car in a manner that should be the owner's choice, not the employee's.  Floor it?  Sure.  Redline a couple of times?  Annoying, but sure.

148mph street race through busy traffic in and out of the carpool lane (rock chips galore)?  Uh, no.  Dealer pretty much had to replace it and fire the guy since I doubt anyone would want to take their car there had they not done so.

    On top of that:

"Dosanjh owns several dealerships in the Fremont area and says that when the option to give Michael a new car came up, he thought it was a good one. "After my conversation with him, at some point, we said OK, why don't we just trade your car in, [we'll] take it back, give you one, and we'll pay the sales tax," he said."

AKA: they're gonna lose a couple bucks on the trade, then sell the 'Vette for more than MSRP anyway since everything is marked up right now.  Win for all.
