Happy belated Birthday! You probably went fishing! Hope you caught them!

Stress is the worst. I believe that stress causes more deaths than any other condition, it's just that stress comes with many names attached to it, but the bottom line is a ton of ailments are brought on by stress. I retired at 58 due to stress, a stressful job is not worth your well being. I kept telling myself I can handle stress no problem, but I was fooling myself. I gained weight the last few years before retiring and suffered other effects that I never was aware of until I retired.

I quit drinking 30 yrs ago and don't miss it in the least.

And sleep is critical to good health, and I mean good sleep. Stress causes sleep issues for a lot of people, at least with me it does.

There some things that happen to us we can't control because of genetics. We can mitigate them sometimes by taking action such as a lifestyle change or medication. I was fortunate to inherit good genes, I was always in good shape into my mid 50's. Good blood work results every year, no extra weight, and good strength and stamina. I did work out regularly until my late 40's but no other dedicated efforts other than working hard and playing hard. But then a few months after I retired I was diagnosed with ALS (which is not genetic of course) so you never know what life will throw at you! I had to give up duning, which was my passion, a year after my diagnosis but am 64 now and still somewhat upright and breathing. :dude:

I guess what I'm getting at is get stress out of your life, do what you can to take of yourself, and enjoy the time you have because life doesn't always come with a warranty so enjoy the ride while it lasts!!

(And if I post some weird chit sometimes, cut me some slack, I have a good excuse!)

Yes, stress. I had a very stressful job (at least for me) for over 15 years. I quit that job in May of 2020 right at the apex of the Covid garbage. I know have a non stress job that doesn't pay near as well but boy what an improvement in my life. Everyday is a good day.....

Take (ONE) Shot of Tequila every morning before you start your day. I've heard that works. I've re-named mine (Listerine) Peace

    Finally a program I feel that I can maintain.............^^^^^

Mac, I'll be 61 in 2 weeks. No meds and not much pain considering the work I did for 25 years (before quitting the manual side of it). I do fiber, super C, hyuarluic acid and fish pills everyday. Most days, especially at work, I drink a bunch of water and very rarely have fast food.  If I quit drinking I'd probably lose the extra 25 lbs I have. Sleep kinda sucks usually but good enough I guess.

Sorry Steve, this probably doesn't help much.  I feel fortunate and probably a little lucky that I am not more effed up.

  4. I took a solid $40,000 hit going from a construction manager to a city building inspector. My house is paid for and kids are done with college. No more car payments and money in the bank. Best thing I ever did. I went from a shitty drive and super stressful (for me at least) job that I grew to absolutely hate to a 20 minute drive and no stress job. Oh yeah, 4-10s so 3 day weekend every week unless I pick up some OT.

    Do it!

I get this one at the Carniceria. Amazon has it but it’s almost twice as the store. IMG_3089.thumb.jpeg.0ad171b72b1875e069a83ea0c433656a.jpeg

We always have some of this in the pantry and have been using it for years. I also use it on tuna and yellow tail to make grilled fish tacos. Tehy have a pollo seasoning as well but we always felt it was too salty.

Tip on carne asada meat, if you cut/slice tri-tip longways into 1/2" steaks and marinade it with some seasoning, olive oil, orange juice, cilantro and onion, it will be as good as anything you can get in the store.

We were guilty of this twice…

Mainly because guys kept breaking chit at the bottom of a bowl near crowded areas (Olds and between Sunset and Osbourne).

We always make sure to put a vehicle up high on the approaches so no one is surprised.

There was one group I came across that was just downhill of a ridge near Osbourne. Not exactly the best spot to hang out…

Broke Down Buggy Crew!! Glad nothing's changed!

@Mac you are on point, 100%. Unfortunately that's a big part of why I sold out.....hoping that economy thing cleans this chit out. Enough deaths in SxSs and they will stop selling them like they did 3 wheelers. 20 years or so and just about all of them will be gone! Of course, I'll be 80 in 20 years...so Eff!

You're in Orange County.  You will absolutely need a permit:

    https://www.ocfl.net/PermitsLicenses/Permits/ResidentialAccessoryStructures.aspx

Even if it's under 120', looks like you still need a permit, just less stringent per above.

    Wrong Orange County Einstein! :classic_laugh:

Permit is required by CBC for any shed over 120 sq ft. Up to you if you want to get one or not but like said, lots of ways to get caught. We go in on complaints all the time. Usually it's the neighbors. You could also have an inspector that frequents the area and sees it going up or sees it after it's up and knows he didn't inspect it. Where I'm at (I am a city building inspector) we typically only respond to complaints and do not go out "looking for trouble".

  8. Always liked my Weber Q had the 200 for years and part of my downsizing was the grill and traded @matt86m for his 100 size. As far as I know both are going strong. I had to replace the regulator on the 220 but wasn't a big deal. The Blackstone won't perform and better in the wind and sand will get on the griddle.........that's my 2 cents at least. My old one that Matt has is probably about 16 years old now.

  9. That Effing douche bag should come up with a plan to save the Sea first. If the Salton Sea dries up it's an environmental health hazard for all of So Cal.

Sonny Bono would have got it done if only he would have worn a helmet.............

This might be a stretch but here it goes.

Looking to upgrade trailers. Want a front sleeper, bumper pull around 26' with a garage at least big enough for our Wildcat XX (11.5-12'). Doesn't have to be super fancy(though the nice features are tempting), but definitely want a clean solid trailer. Maybe mid-2000s to 2010 vintage. We like WW and attitudes with the big storage area under the front but that's not necessarily a must.

Ideal budget would be $10-12k. We've seen some that look decent around that price but no luck contacting the sellers. Cheaper is better as long as it's clean, but might be able to stretch our budget if its nice and not unreasonable.

In or near San Diego county preferred.

Will also be selling our basic 20' fun runner once we find a new trailer is anyone knows a potential buyer.

Shoot me a PM when you decide to get rid of the Funrunner....

FUN FUN STUFF , thanks for posting. Not a whole lot of us left :classic_biggrin: Early 2000s sand show I think we counted 120 plus sandcar builders.

Crazy to think how outside the norm the original Big 5 was. I remember spending every weekend in the dunes pulling up to the hill or camps and people laughing their ass off at the look. My reply was ..."I know look how funny it looks , wanna take a ride " Even crazier yet knowing we built 20 Big 5's to every Hustler !

    I thought you'd like that.

  12. We have a ways to go to bottom but we're just starting. If you want to save some dough wait at least 6 months and see where we're at. These guys that say "don't wait" are probably just contractors (no offense fellas) that want the ride to keep going. It's all falling off the face of the earth and gonna get worse before it gets better. I've been through a few of these now.
