I have been back in a 5th wheel for 3 years now. I sold the moho during Covid. I loved it but I don't have the bank for the things that go wrong in a moho......Plus / I like having my truck for Glamis. For me the motorhome was limited for what we like to do.
Decided that Glamis was NEVER going away in my life. I am on a very limited budget so @Pennywise took this in on trade and I thought instead of towing crazy weights up and down mountains / fighting with expensive motor homes that are complicated and limited in water capicity and are too nice to beat on out in glamis.....why not have a comfortable big 5th wheel that has a King size Bed / Large Bathroom. and capicity tanks that fit the way we camp. I can leave it in storage and tow it back and forth to where I camp ....... Keep it waxed / stocked up with Ramen and my bbq atc 70, a Bike to ride and a . When I wanna go to Glamis / Drive out....Hook up and tow to Gecko or Washes.......Done
Plenty of room for the family without breaking the bank. I use my cargo trailer for the buggy and 3 wheelers.
I am keeping the 5th wheel we call Cup Cake to leave at home in San Diego / It fits into RV parks and is AWESOME for the beach parking along the sea wall anytime of year...BMX Bikes in the back and enjoy the CA coast in full comfort..........I would love to have a motorhome for everything EXCEPT Glamis but cant swing it......Fornow, Its Cupcake (Small Toy Hauler 5th wheel) that we have had for 3 years at Home and the ENVY 38foot 5th wheel will be our Glamis Home hopefully for many years!
I have a bunch of work to do in the next 4 days But gonna enjoy (I hope) hanging with family and friends making it set up for us!
Sounds like the perfect setup, Keeping it simple is the best way to actually enjoy glamis.

Our last home they were all connected as well via wire.....one went off, they all went off.
Problem was there was no fire, no smoke. Middle of day was not as bad as middle of night when i'm dead asleep.
Took a baseball bat to one of them...
Turns out the one that had been chirping for low battery finally set them all off. Once one chirps, replace that battery fast.

Bright side: no dust.
Downside: those silt beds turn into quagmires.

Deal with it on the track, not in the pits

I learned there's a sweet little compound of homes/guest houses in between Julian and Descanso on 500 acres for 2.5 mil. Seems really cheap.
Checked out with department heads yesterday to possibly purchase.

That's awesome.
My boys want to switch to 2 Wheelers as well, I'm thinking a modern 250 4-stroke is the perfect fit as well. Great idea going to dirt, where you did - sand is for the experienced rider no doubt.

i dont understand why in glamis someone needs to carry gas in a sxs . i have no problem leaving wash 10 going to china wall the swing set and down to duners diner and back on a single tank. i have brought gas for the quads on that trip because on of the three will run out usually 1 miles from camp on the way back. i do have a roto packs mounted on the cage on the cold side of the engine 99 percent of the people riding with extra fuel don't even need the fuel for the rides they do. i wish them a speedy recovery
Exactly, not needed by most.

Hope the guy makes a full recovery.
Just say NO to carrying gas cans on your side by side.

Just started. I make no claims on the awesomeness of this video
It's crazy how that specific period in Glamis changed it so permanently at the hill and drags.
Bummer it happened, but at least I was the right age to see it firsthand..haha.
2000 or 2020 it was bound to happen as folks started "Marketing" Glamis to make money off the shenanigans which, made them famous and quickly get out of control.

CL, OU and FBM are your best bets for barn type finds and on cheap because their wife wants it out of the yard...
Samba of course, but be ready for the "I know what I got" crowd that wants premium pricing for their unobtainium built cars...LOL

Quads are too much fun to give up, I'll ride it different then my youth....but you should never stop riding.
I still want a ATC250R back in my life. Like an old Highschool GF, found to look back and remember, but might not be the fun ride you thought it would be LOL.
