  1. My son is selling his 2016 Yamaha YXZ1000R.  He bought it two seasons ago and it has been a great SxS.  He recently bought a Tatum Sand Demon sandrail so this needs to go.  When he bought it the engine was brand new, built by La Habra Yamaha, and he has all the documentation.  The turbo kit was installed by Weller Racing in Phoenix nd tuned by them as well.  Stock these have around 100hp and the Weller turbo bumps tghat up to about 200hp.

  2. I was very fortunate to get an RV camping pass from a friend/exhibitor and extra passes from my buddy @Whipsandshyt.  Spent Thursday and Friday delivering cars and trailers to the show with my son. Walked the booths Thursday afternoon and talked to a lot of our vendors, which is a rarity for me. Very happy to see more sandrails than I'm used to at the show. Got to spend a lot of time with @Grant@Funco, his family and employees. Such a great group of people!

Donated to the ASA daily for our camp meals which was unexpected and absolutely appreciated. We camped next to the Lazer Stars light business and made new friends. They said they've been camping at the SSSS for over 30 years. Another good group of people.

Somehow @URCLEVERhopped the border and got into the RV camp and we hung out a little at 11pm Fri night. I barely remember that conversation but was reminded when we saw each other again Saturday morning when we were both headed to the sh!tter. Apparently I looked like sh!t. Believable.

Ran into a lot of our clients that I've never met, mostly from the transport side which my son runs, and it was great to hear feedback on his work ethic. Very proud dad moments.

Also got to meet a lot of followers on IG. Good to put a face to the IG names.

My son bought whips from @Whipsandshytfor his new to him Tatum Sand Demon, a battery jumper pack and a tow rope. I had a few things on my list but only bought passes from the ASA.

Overall a great show, very humid, and the beers were cheap when I could get them from my RV next to the show.

Loaded up a Buckshot from the @CBM booth after closing on Sunday (thanks Bruce!) and a Funco from the Str8up booth around 8pm last night. Weird being there after hours when no one is around.

Already made arrangements to have an RV spot for next year.

  3. When I raced I'd only get nervous when we saw a large crowd on the course or a bunch of photpgaphers.  That usually meant a 'gotcha' was coming up and had drawn a crowd or the photogs.  We'd usually check up a little till we could see the hazard.

  4. Overcast all yesterday was nice but the humidity was killing me. Changed my shirt a couple times. Drizzled last night and same thing this morning. Heavy enough now I had to put the awning out to stay dry sitting outside.

5pm is when the chaos begins and we try to get a Buckshot and a Funco out of the show and loaded up for transport.

Those new SCU's look amazing.  Never driven a SCU; but would definitely be in my top 3 for a new build.....

We've been transporting the SCUs and they are a really well built car. Taking the black two seater from Redline to Vegas next week. Talked to Justin for a while on Thursday and he is very passionate about his builds. If I didn't have my car a new SCU would be my number one choice.

those automated calculators like to be generous for sure... I never had one that was even close

My 06 LLY Duramax was pretty good if I didn't reset it for a few thousand miles. Went a month hand calculating and got 15.5mpg mostly highway, not towing, but truck had 37s. DIC display showed the same. Don't have one in my 2014 WT Silverado. Definitely don't trust the one in our 2021 Silverado.

with all the fuel you burn do you use any apps like upside, to get a savings?

Just the Gas Buddy app. It usually shows current pricing and links to Google Maps so I can check distance. But if it's only a few cents up to $.30 I don't bother going out of my way. My truck holds 36 gal so generally fill up 25- 30 gals. Saving $.30/gal is $9, not worth my time driving very far. I kinda set the bar at $.50/gal if it's a little out of the way.

Yucaipa, CA is a weird town. See fuel for $1/gal less then most cities nearby so I try to fuel up there if I'm passing through. If I can save $20-$30 per tank in my truck it's basically free lunch. I spend $5k-$6k per month on fuel in the off season and $6k-$7k Oct to Feb.

My son has to be more careful because he's in the dually and almost always towing a 24' flatbed, 20' enclosed or a client's stacker. I'd rather have him focused on safe driving than saving a few dollars on fuel.

  8. I've run diesel #2, B20, R99 and even Jet A (air plane fuel) in the mid 2000's. I've never checked mileage to compare which is best. We are on the road so much it's hard to find the same fuel consistently to do an actual comparison. I use the Gas Buddy app to find diesel and see if it's cheaper a block or two away. The app doesn't break the diesel down to different types, just says Diesel. The local 76 Station has R99 and I fueled up yesterday for $5.79/gal. The Shell station near us has diesel #2 for $5.89/gal.

My 2014 Duramax hit a bump on the road and all the smog stuff 'fell' off about a year ago. Towing a jet boat at 75mph from LA to Needles I got 13.5mpg. Towing nothing from Needles to LA I got 17.5mpg. I was hoping for more being fully deleted and a $1200 tune that claimed to get 20mpg Need to find a better tuner.

Our 2021 Duramax is bone stock except for the 60 gallon Titan fuel tank. My son times his fuel ups so he's close to empty when he's in AZ or NV. About $1-$1.25 a gallon less than CA. He thinks he's getting 20mpg because of the trucks factory mileage calculator. Told him to hand calculate but these kids believe in their technology.

  9. We are delivering and picking up cars for the show so I have an RV spot there Thursday to Sunday. If anyone has any extra Vendor passes I'll buy them. Daughter decided to come out Sat and Sun with a friend but need Vendor passes to access the RV place after the regular gates close.
