122 is The record in Phx. as well, I remember the day well. I had to work in a building that had no AC, then drive home in my VW bug that had no AC. that was a pretty brutal day to say the least.

I was in my Armada with no AC (broken), and the moon roof opened, because I USUALLY like heat.  But on that day, driving on Reems Road in Surprise, I said to myself "hey this is different....this is like an OVEN".

  2. When I was approx. 4 years old in St. Louis, my mom and dad were attending a back yard party.  All the adults were having fun on the patio, and somehow I got into the built in pool and no one was monitoring the pool.  I have no idea what season this was and if anyone was supposed to be swimming.  My mom and dad were not watching me, and I was seriously drowning because in St. Louis I had never been in a pool before.

The only thing that saved me was that my straw hat was floating on the water, and a man from the party jumped in and saved me.  I found out many years later from my dad, that the man went on to become Attorney General of Missouri.

I always saved the hat for sentimental reasons, but unfortunately in June 2021 I may have thrown it away during a mega stressful and haphazard family move.  I found one tonight that looks just like it, just for illustration purposes.

  3. I honestly used to dislike him a lot back in his prime years, and I went crazy whenever Phil beat him (I was a serious golf addict before other hobbies took over, and then off-roading finally came around).

As time went on and golf was not my focus anymore, I started to see a whole different side of Tiger, and started to like him and root for him.  What he is showing now is that no matter how wealthy and famous he is, and no matter how much he has been beaten down by TREMENDOUS physical injuries, he is fighting to be the best he can be until the very end of his career, and he is instilling a sense of purpose and desire to be good or great at whatever you do, in his son.

I feel that at this time, in 2022, looking at what Tiger is trying to do, he is a model for all of us to try to keep forging ahead even if unforeseen obstacles have gotten in our way.

    Go Tiger!!

  4. This evening I hiked a mountain In Glendale AZ at Pinnacle Peak and 59th Ave. Turned back at 3/4 to the peak because I've been biking for too long and my feet and ankles weren't used to a trail that was rockier than the Mars landscape.  Good thing I have great hiking boots.

Right now I'm drinking Chalkboard Mendoza Malbec 2020, reading and posting on multiple websites.  I'm simply in my bedroom.  I don't have the backyard layout that @dbart has, but at least I have a view out the 2nd floor window.

@dbart sorry to hear about the funeral.  I hope your wife's trip goes well.

  5. I rode my bike today sometime after 10:30AM when it was already too hot.  I road approx. 8 miles on the New River Trail and Skunk Creek Trail.  This was the first time I got onto the Skunk Creek Trail and I could see from the map at the trailhead that there's a lot of future riding to be done there.  Now I need to buy a road bike and have a little more cruising fun than I've been having with my old mountain bike, because these are all paved trails.

  6. The urinals at my EOS Fitness gym can be pretty sloppy even though there's a floor mat.  I have to assume a wide stance to avoid the puddles.

But what really pisses me off at that same gym (similar to Bobalos "some pretty disrespectful POS's" comment), which is actually in a very upscale part of town, is the FRESH GUM ALL OVER THE PARKING LOT.  I've stepped in it twice lately, and now I have to look for it every time, and I've complained to management about it, suggesting a sign be posted.  I'm shocked that there's so many disrespectful adult gum chewers at that gym.

Really, it changes dlck to pee pee?  What if your name is Dlck?

I think the name D-ick went out in the 70's.   Yes I got the "pee pee" conversion too.

  8. Just now I read the article called #2 - EUREKA DUNES OHV HISTORY.

I learned about the Kelso Dunes south of Baker, CA.  It's too bad they closed that area.  It looks interesting on the map.

Yeah insane to say the least. Fat and sodium. Wow. Typical for a lot of food that you buy out like that.

I kinda thought about that last night after I signed off, but I didn't think someone would look it up.....haha.  Sorry about that recommendation. 😁

But the interesting thing about the Firehouse menu is that salt and pepper is an optional item.  It's on the options list, they have a picture of salt and pepper shakers together, and you have to ask for it.

Try making them from scratch. I start with whatever crappy leftover beer I bought for mooches, add some bloody mary mix then add a little more spice to taste, plus a squeeze of lime. Most of those pre-made ones don't compare to the ones you make for yourself, for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the tip!  It's definitely something to experiment with........with the type of beer and type of spice you choose.

The other things is: When I got out of the hospital and started rehab I thought to myself how hard I have worked for almost 30 years (this career) and now can really enjoy life. I am gonna work at it so I get the most out of it!! This week at the shop the guys were all eating pizza right next to me. Ate my tuna, soup, and applesauce with a big smile on my face.

I had a tuna sub yesterday at Firehouse Subs on 67th Ave and Loop 101.  Highly recommended!!  Like you, I also am very tentative about pepperoni and bacon, and I eat less pizza than I used to.

I really appreciate everything you have written, and because of it I think I can at least look for things at the store that say no sodium or reduced sodium.  I can at least stop shaking the salt shaker at restaurants, which I really do.  But the #1 thing I want to do is get a checkup with a cardiologist and see where I really stand.  I can easily find one in my Banner narrow network plan, and I'm going to do it because of what you posted.

If stress were a factor or a trigger, I should have had a heart attack this past June.  I think June 2021 was the most stressful month of my life, for reasons I'm not going to post here.  But that's just a side note.  I need to get a checkup after many years without one.

I'm 63yo, 5'9", 220 pounds.  My wife is 66yo, 5'3", 125 pounds.  She takes 25mg Losartan for high blood pressure (even with her excellent ht/wt ratio), and I have never had high blood pressure.  Yet I can't make any assumptions at this age. I really need to have a checkup.

Thanks very much for all your info!!

Oh wait, here's my contribution to everyone for better health.  I never drink sodas anymore.  I switched to seltzer water sodas, and once you find the flavors that you like, you just can't get enough of them.  I don't even think about Coke, Pepsi or Dr. Pepper anymore.

Thought I would give a Saturday morning motivational.  Many of you know I had a heart attack Nov 6th 2020. Getting rushed to the hospital I did not think I was going to make it. Two surgeries and a total of 4 stents.  With extreme willpower I have made it back to feeling better than I have in years.

So anyone want to jump on that horse and eat better??

Thanks for sharing your personal story, and I want you to know that whatever I say below, I believe you did the absolute best recovery for yourself and I hope you keep it going and become stronger and healthier than ever before.

One question I have is how do you know how much of your condition was related to sodium......versus heredity, versus something else?

I'm not trying to say I have all the answers, but I like sodium, and I think my heart is helped from my alcohol consumption.  I drink a lot on one day, and then the next day I drink a Bang Miami Cola (300mg caffeine) plus other bodybuilding supplements and usually have a great workout.  And I'm usually riding my bike 4 to 6 miles on the non-workout days.  On my drinking days I'm trying to do wine as much as possible, because I see all the old people buying lots of wine in Trader Joes, and I can feel that it helps me stay in balance more than beer.

But I do like salt.  I don't hold back on anything when eating, even though my wife is always bugging me about sodium.  I'm actually more worried about her future because she has never done a workout in her life, and even though she's very slender, she's starting to look frail.  She's also a non-drinker and a very light eater.
