I really like the mini split idea! That has got to be so much more efficient than a roof top RV air conditioner!

It's pretty crazy. For 110 that 1 ton unit is as big as it gets and it has the heat pump installed so it does it all... and at a 1500W max draw with inverter soft start. I'm looking forward to putting it to the test!

Education is the key. Camp Razor and every vendor there should be preaching respect for the lifestyle and our deserts.
you can only hope they pound it in enough people start to react.
PS. Make sure those classes and fliers are in Spanish also. 😉

What's crazy is that the traffic inside the "event" was barely a fraction of what was out there last weekend. The vast majority of people that went by the ASA both were not informed and had no idea that there were closures, that there was a chance of closures, and that we actually got LAND BACK which literally never happens in off-road. Even though they weren't informed I had less than 5% not genuinely stop and listen to the message. Sold at least a dozen more ASA Razr raffle tix than last camp Razr and the actual majority of ticket sales were primary Spanish speakers. Not gonna lie, I was shocked.

Halloween was a huge kickoff weekend before Polaris bought the store. The times have changed and it wasn't this event that did it, it's the users. Polaris is an easy target since their name is plastered on the Beach Store and the event itself, but I'd wager that if that event was hosted by Tread Lightly!, the First Baptist Church, Domino's Pizza, or no event at all the resultant shitshow of carnage and lack of common sense would be pretty much the exact same.

100% agree that education is the key and that every vendor should be pushing the message of stewardship and responsible recreation.

  4. The nice thing about a 501c3 nonprofit is donating $ ...or even a trailer :shocker: GV needed a trailer and we needed a write off! i've been throwing money away on a storage unit and this will kill multiple birds with one stone.

It's a 24' Fractal with a couple of adds and still waiting on the front cabinets to come in and channeling to cover the air handler return lines... should be exactly moments before I leave for G in a few days! :bangin: I'm wrapping it now and will be adding sponsor logos to it before this year's Veterans Day Gathering. I know a few that either have a Fractal or are getting one built, Anthony and crew over there are top notch, check them out. If you are interested in sponsoring GV DM me your email and I'll send you the sponsor letter :deal:

  5. I’m out here to help the ASA, shake hands and kiss babies, and hopefully find a GV sponsor or two. Leaving tonight and hitting the Towne Pump in Westmoreland on the way home for an aged Brandt ribeye, may as well make the trip out here worth it!

  7. The level of idiocy and ineptness already displayed on social media in G… on the first day of the season …before the sun even goes down… it would be funny if it wasn’t so effin sad.

lost dogs, lost phones, no gas and don’t know where to buy it, out of fresh water and don’t know how to get it, paddle mounted backwards and don’t know where to change it, …are these MFers for real?!? I’m all for asking questions and you have to learn at some point, but maybe do it before you spend thousands and take your family hours away on a crazy ass full moon weekend to the epicenter of hell… jeebus H man, the carnage pics from this weekend should be legendary …

  8. In typical full moon shitshow fashion, our site was under attack yesterday and has been down, likely getting reset... with that, I am hand collating all of the orders to get the final presale order in asap. If you were trying and had no luck dm me what you need, I'll get it ordered, and we'll square up in G. Looking at 1300 today, will check this site and my texts before sending final numbers.

All they have paid to have done so far is see if they can re-zone the area. I am sure that some budgeting was completed as well to see what it's going to cost for permitting and construction.  I still see 5- 10 years getting thru the Environmental impact portion of the permits before we see one grain of sand gets moved. Biffles compound was a single family residence, not nearly the same as wanting to build a strip mall.

They have done a lot more than just an impact study. Some of it was already re-zoned in that meeting from S-2 and C-2 to CR-1. The article even talks to the fact that a CEQA eval was determined to be adequate, water supply assessment approved, wastewater treatment and collection, drainage, fire protection, you name it ....it's all been reviewed and approved. I was actually shocked that they are as far along through the hoops as they are. I'd expect that they'd be complete in less than 5 years and would expect phased changes to start taking place before next season.

  10. Today 10/26 is the last day to get your tank, tee, or hoodie guaranteed. I'm closing the store tonight and submitting the order. We'll have some mens/regular fit tees on hand Friday the 10th from noon-3 behind the Beach Store and anything leftover will be hauled out to the Flag Pole, first come-first served. Very few, if any, extras on the womens fit or hoodies.

  11. I'm still chewing through it but at first glance I'm for it.

As it's 100% private property, absolutely nothing that happens there should impact the RAMP... they can put in a Disneyland extension and a Walmart and it will not affect the RAMP or our fees one single bit. We are only talking about private property, not the ISDRA. The only possible impact is a minor revision for traffic/access (the 78 and wash road), as there is a proposed traffic light across from the entrance to GDS, funded by Polaris - not our fees. This isn't adding fire rings and picnic tables to the ISDRA though, this is private property.

A solar farm was part of the plan. I'm not stoked about that eye sore but it is what it is, they paid almost 7 mil for it, they can put up a farm if they want and work to get off the tens of thousands of gallons of diesel they burn each year.

Their current water well production is 1.5 acre feet per year (about 489k gallons) and it was approved to increase that to 25 acre feet per year (8.125B gallons). That's enough water to do whatever they want, including the bar, restaurant, hotel, and RV park. It sounds like whatever water issues they've had have been addressed.

The vendor areas would be permanent structures that Polaris would own and maintain. That may eventually end up as a cost savings for some of our vendors, though the plan says "shade structures" ...so it may just ben firmed up designated and powered pads that they set up their existing facilities on, underneath a high/large shade structure. There's 438 pages of the plan and I have not read much of it.

They have proposed an obstacle course and will have a test facility there. One minor concern is a "license" process that could eventually be imposed, once they have the means to do it. Believe GDS had wanted to do this for a while now.

Biggest concern is really for the vendors. Some of them truly live and love that desert and survive from October to April. It takes a truly committed person to endure and operate in that environment for ~7 months a year, not everyone can hack it and we've seen numerous come and go. I would hate to see some that have helped or saved some of us get a raw deal and am hopeful that Polaris will do right by them, give them first right of refusal and a fair deal.

Biggest hope for all of this is the investment that occurs and access to the other side of the tracks. With this capital investment, and a few parcels of their land on the east side (Funco Flats, etc), the likelihood that we can finally get sanctioned access across the tracks just shot through the roof. That is a very good thing. We have a lot of land on that side that goes uncamped, unridden, and untouched.

    No fundraiser auction this year?

Negative. It was a net profit for the charity but a massive time sink that I just can't swing this year. Hoping between merch and a few sponsors we'll be good enough to keep doing what we do as well as hosting some vets in G this year.

admittedly, I have not seen anything on the FB page (I got rid of FB a couple of years ago)...  But maybe put that into the add, so fewer folks will ask.  You cant fix stupid........  LOL.

JMHO, if the goal is to sell shirts (revenue), then maybe a change in tradition.  if the goal is just to provide shirts for the hard core that will get one every year anyway........ then keep the tradition.

Something to be said for that, no doubt. By and large, people trust that we put out a decent design and understand that this is how we do what we do... but there's a growing number of folks that don't get that and won't buy a shirt without seeing it, regardless of the purpose behind it. I get it. Appreciate the feedback @Bobalos  we've got one more day of preorders to go and then it is what it is, will give it some serious consideration going forward though! :hethan:

without knowing anything about this, can I ask why its such a secrete?

Is it just meant to be a surprise or is there some logistical reason?

Ive done shirts before & we had to finalize the design WAY ahead of ordering, which is why its confusing to me.

Tradition at this point. 20th year, 19 with shirts, and never once released the design prior to the event

  15. Ok folks, the season is upon us and the 20th Annual Glamis Veterans Day Gathering is almost here. Here are a few things to know:

-The quality of the shirts and hoodies was taken up a notch. Also, women's fit is available in both tees as well as zippered hoodie. If you want a hoodie you need to preorder it, will have very few on hand, other than the preorder purchases. The stock images at https://glamisveterans.org/store are the actual products that will be printed up. The design, as always, has not been released yet and is bitchen - I guarantee it.

-Preorder pickup is only a the compound behind the Beach Store on Friday 11/10 between noon and 3. If you can't make it you can find a buddy to pick up your order and mail it to you, we aren't mailing though.

-Any event shirts that are not sold on Friday from noon-3 will be taken out to the flag pole and sold until we run out

-The Friday Flag Run will kick off at 3pm in the compound behind the store. We'll have a driver's meeting at 3 and depart immediately after to Oldsmobile Hill (not the ledge). Everyone should rock an American Flag on their rides and join in the parade of literally hundreds of vehicles as we snake through vendors and then along the 78 to Olds Valley. We'll have aerial support getting footage on the route and want everyone to be safe. If you are running a buggy that can't lug along the route you are encouraged to check out of line (before your clutch does) and meet us at the hill - nobody should get back into the line once out of it tough - no crossing/traffic/etc ...need to keep everyone in one piece.

-The 20th Annual ceremony will kick off at the Flag Pole promptly at 11:11am, same as it always does. Veterans and Active Duty are encouraged to arrive early and be at the flag pole as early at 10am. We'll have shade and water.

-If you arrive early and are close by plan to stick around until the end - don't be that douche that leaves early, drives over my cables, and creates a ruckus as we are still handing out challenge coins and thanking our veterans and active duty.

-For the audience that doesn't arrive early enough to hear the PA speakers we encourage you to turn down the tunes and tune into BFG Relay on your race radios.

-For those that can't make the event at all you can enjoy it from the comfort of wherever you are on the Glamis Veterans YouTube and FB pages. A full multi-camera production will be live streamed.

    -No online auction this year.

-Hosting a vet and his family at this event and will have at least one other weekend this year with multiple families out!

-We are looking for partners and sponsors with a lot in the works. If you or someone you know may be interested please contact me: 951-31four-four344 brian@glamisveterans.org

Should be a kick ass year and looking forward to seeing everyone out there as we honor all of our veterans and active duty

    No picture yet?

Been a surprise every year but this year I've had no less than 30 posts or messages about it between FB and IG. I thought making women's sizes available would be enough... about go give in and put the damned graphics up there. :bangin:

@HozayKwarvo  When does the shirt preorder window close?

Will be this week, cutoff likely Thursday. Bitchen design this year and like Trap said, women's sizes in shirts as well as sweatshirts.

Sorry folks, waaaaay behind the curve this year and swamped with work and another Veterans event that we do and all that. I'll have more details and all the event info up ASAP!
