  1. We decorate and hand out candy, but the numbers have dwindled to less than 12 families - all on this or next block  - kinda sad its just us and one other family that decorates or hands out on this block

Friends a couple towns over in Manhattan Beach  get 400-500 kids (bused in from mostly Hawthorne and inglewood)

There are too many businesses out there that are easy to deal with. He sold or stopped doing business in his building off of the 215. It's been emptied out for awhile now. And as far as a solid trailer, this one mentioned wasn't so solid. The pinholes were a fairly common problem in the business. Even Lance RV had the problem. It was the aluminum roof laying directly on steel staples in that instance. $12K sounds outrageous to me but then so many businesses operate on the premise that there is always a bigger sucker coming up the road.

100% agree the problem is and was common.I think the honest builders out there will tell you the lower and mid priced trailers do a bad job isolating Alum and steel and will all have galvanic corrosion in 5-10 years - Most rely on paint or Glue to isolate but always seem to miss that a few screws are going through it all or a couple staples are rubbing through the paint, Like anything proper prep prevents it, but takes time and precision, that does not match the get it done quick attitude most of the builders have. it does not take much contact but takes time to eat through. Higher end all aluminum trailers  seem to hold up, but theI are generally not cheap ...

@Fullthrottleguy, IMO, it's only a matter of time before it spreads everywhere.  It does seem though like the homeless areas tend to be super large near areas where they can get food.  It also has to do with the police and the support they get from the government.   If you have a douche mayor that crys on TV every day....

probably all true  -  No where is going to nice soon ....I know 7-11's in LA are all playing classical music pretty loud outside, apparently keeps the homeless away  - how they figured that out, who knows

  4. I have been looking at buying a business in Chula Vista  - have been driving down and spending time down there - I cannot believe the prices compared to just a few years ago,  and the traffic  - its worse than most of LA... and lots of Homeless everywhere - what happened to that area ...

I live in one of the top 30 safest towns in CA less than 3 miles from the beach in LA and home prices are cheap here / Our weather is comparable if not better as well  and we have no homeless (yet)

We still have the same ridiculous government and our sales tax rate is 10.25 , but that place was paradise  .... now it seems to be turning in the bad parts of OC

    Am I missing something?

    Quick update.

Spent quite some time, noting and making rear shocks adjustments, swapping rear shocks left to right and turned to get better tube spacing from the tires.

Car kept bottoming out in the rear.

@Squatcher and @Mac both suggested nitrogen, but I had asked for them to be filled before I picked up the car.

Assumed soo and welp they either gassed out or were not charged.

Both of them had the bottle and gauge kit.

So I connected to the shocks and they were not charged.  Set them at 150 and what a fricken difference.

So now I'm ready to set the sand on fire.

Leave for a morning run today

Get into a great 40 min run. We take a break.

Jump back in and within a min something ain't right. I take a hard stop to avoid a witches eye and the stops abruptly. Try and move and it's like it's glued to the earth.

Got out. Did some checks and assumed the back brakes locked up.  We cracked the rear brake lines and no help. Check the trans and in neutral.  Tried backing up and nope.

So now I'm assuming trans or mid boards oddly a CV.

Squatcher left and went back to camp for his air jack.

I checked the hubs and found the pass rear midboard hot compared to the driver's side.

So not much we can do.

Paul gets back. We lift the rear of the car and start it. Put it in gear and get the hub broke loose.

Limp back to camp and now enjoying some cold bevs with friends

Thanks for that great update ... We have all been there ...As much as I hate shakedown Gremlins

We do get by with a little help from our friends ... Here's tipping one back to @Mac and @Squatcher

GM didn't you Dyno the car recently? surprised under that load tied down you did not see the issue , just goes to show Feces Occurs

I believe they're from Pit Pal or Pit Products. Well made and light. Made for a trailer but the shipping is a killer.

these are the one's I am looking at for my new trailer - I had these 2 trailers ago - free shipping over $500

Glad somebody chimed in with this about the tongue mount tool box. One of my neighbors has a good size toolbox on his desert trailer. Something like 60" x 18" x 18", not one of those trapezoid shaped tongue boxes but an actual rectangular below the bed rail mount truck box. I was definitely thinking of putting the 2k genny in there as well as the battery and maybe an air compressor.  Maybe wheel chocks and some of the other bs like wheel chocks and whatnot.

    - I heard people aren't crazy about e-track on the floor mostly for mud/dirt type stuff due to clogging. Maybe not a big deal for the sand. I asked Fractal to put in 8 D-Rings. Hopefully enough to start. I like that they are flush mount so I don't have to trip over them. Planning to go with E-track on the walls with probably a set at waist height and another at chest or head high for mounting a couple cabinets or helmets, etc. I have a feeling I'm going to get carried away with the E-track.

-Not sure what vehicles are in my future. I'm thinking it'll be 3 quads and a rail at some point. Maybe there could be a kids RZR in there too, I dunno. Was planning to outfit a workbench up front that could maybe hinge up in case I get a dirt bike again and I could just E-Track it to the front wall. Probably just put a rolling toolbox strapped to the wall instead of permanent built in, just to keep it configurable.

    - Spare tire in near the ramp up high seems like the right place for it. On the passenger side of the rail. I've definitely felt the anxiety of wondering if the spare will be enough to make it home, so two is a good idea for piece of mind.

-I guess I'll add that I store it at home in the side yard and security is not an issue. guess I should have ordered a window but too late now.

-Only other thing I'm thinking is I like epoxy floor + poly clear coat instead of rhino lining (heavy and gets hot in the sun) and before the coin flooring too as water always seems to get under that stuff and rots the floor before you can see it. I like the idea of sealing that wood floor as well as possible.

Thanks for all the great input, super helpful.

square tools boxes you just have to be careful when you turn -  some peoiple do an extended tongue for RV's and they work with big toolboxes.

On the epoxy floor I am sure some people onGD have a lot of experience, but I was going to do it on the last trailer with some sand for grip and was told it would crack  due to temp changes and stress from twisting  - So I went with floor paint.  I like coin floor as long as you remember not to turn wheels on it and don't mind the cost.  Good Floor paint/sealer  is cheap (but todays standards) and easy to touch up - I also like the light color to help with light reflection - Coolest thing I have seen, I am copying is LEDs at floor level

My Wells Cargo has a spare tire well in the floor & while its a great idea, for hiding a tire, I found out the hard way it is the dumbest thing any trailer company could have done.........

know what happens when you have a non-running car in the trailer, its raining & you are driving on a hill........  You get a blowout & you have no way to get the damn spare out......  LOL.

It does work awesome for spare parts though.  the car is most likely not in the trailer & opening it up to get parts is no big deal........

& IMO, the most awesome trailer tool of all time........

    image.jpeg.b5313c8c7ff8bbcca88061fd4f329c03.jpeg

I had a similar experience  - I was so happy thinking my tire was out of the way  ... then ok Sh&t I needed it.  Converted the well into a Camp chair  holder ...

All the advice is solid  -

    I would add

nothing is better than Tongue mounted genny with a tool box on top -  you move the battery outside into the tool box   and put an air compressor in there as well, now everything that corrodes or makes fumes is outside  all external connections  and things you need are there and easy to get to and you are not crawling under a bench to check or change batteries and you can run solar wires outside if you want without making holes in the roof  - which is never a win

A Max Air on each vent is always a good idea or swap the plastic tops for metal tops - you won't miss the light  and you never have to worry about a crack or one flying off  while driving

Depending on where you store, a window is really nice to have not just for light  but if it opens its really nice if you are working in there

If you store somewhere your don't want people looking in a nice RV style velcro window cover works well -  its just as easy to break in the trailer door as a window - so theft risk is low

I am huge fan of Fuel stations if you can afford it too

Good luck with the Fractal - Anthony and team build a nice trailer

  9. The reskinning done right is a pretty time consuming process , been there a couple times . its lots of labor.  Materials are up in cost too -  depending on the length of the trailer- the panels ar e 49" wide (48 with and inch over lap) ands they cost abiout $140 each painted  but the VHB tape and Silkaflex to adhere them is about half as much more per panel and you have to do a roof and from and rear and you likely will replace all the trim rather than try to clean and reuse  - but labor is usually still 60% of the cost.

if you want a toyhauler and not an enclosed trailer  - its going to be expensive.  A few places I know still do those  UltraSantek probably is the most reliable.   ATC  not in SoCal makes some very nice pieces

If its just an  Enclosed  you have a few good choices including NewTrend, Universal, and Fractal

  10. We have attached 3 Rzr's to a big sand car with a broken trans and was able to get it to Sand Hwy and then switched to single Rzr and smooth sailing from there

Break a rear arm ... and well....

My personal car weighs abut the same as most newer SxS's bare - once the "add-on's" go on they weight 200-300 more than my car  (based on shock therapy saying what SxS they weighed were)
