It finally did after midnight

@Grease Monkey @Greengo @Yarder @Big E @SandyCheeks @sand diva @Kevin Evan and Mariah and those not pictured that stuck around through the insane weather event and delayed their treks home to help replace a damaged flag. It took everyone to get it done, no way that it was happening without all of you!

Not 100% certain what or how it happened… speculation that it could have been the solar lights malfunctioning or it could have been lighting. Third option is fireworks or something of the sort. Noticed it on Saturday and know it was 100% not burned only a few days prior. Whatever it was, three of the solar lights were destroyed and the flag was burned pretty bad - damned shame too, as this was in exceptionally good shape for this time of year and was flown for us over the US capital building on 11/01/23 by @madweazl
There’s a healthy debate about what caused it, and while everyone was hoping for a solar light failure or lightening, not one person on site believes either to be possible… the lithium batts were intact, lights appear to be damaged from the outside - in, not inside-out. No lightening strikes in the area since it was last fully intact. Also, a lot of cardboard tubes and plastic discs, etc (fireworks remnants) were found in the area.
At any rate, the W was in full effect at this point, sustained moving sand for 30+ hours and even some rain for good measure… but we knew what needed to be done. Went through the list of what was needed and rallied the troops for a recovery run Sunday… by the time we were able to get out there the dunes were fully reset, still blowing off the ridges, and completely whited out, making everything more challenging.
We got Old Glory changed out and ready for the summer but it took a lot of people to do it, most of which delayed their departure from G by several hours to make it happen. This needed fixing and there is zero chance it was happening with out y’all - can’t thank you enough!Be it changing out the flag when needed, holding the Veterans Day Gathering, hosting veterans and their families in the dunes and making them feel welcomed and honored, or picking up trash and doing their part, these are Glamis Veterans - all volunteers making it happen and making Glamis and our Nation a better place for it. Thank you

9 day trip. Lotta heat with shade and misters first part, lotta W and blowing sand second part with some rain for good measure. Escaped the W to Yuma last night for some Texas Roadhouse and another 30 gallons of fuel. A lotta riding in store today on fully reset dunes and then steak night tonight, a lotta riding tomorrow in store for us and finally pulling out Wednesday.
Saturday we noticed the flag had been damaged by fire (different thread for that discussion) and needed to be replaced - most everyone besides us and BigE were planning to pull out asap Sunday morning and get out of the W and back to work but they all delayed their departure and got down with a flag replacement effort Sunday in the blowing sand and whites out dunes. Can’t thank everyone enough

Today… Instead of my traditional smashing of the liver in celebration we headed up the mountains to attend my first ever baby shower… I spent a decade as a Scoutmaster and a little kid that I talked off the ledge of homesickness and countless other experiences is a grown ass man now, making a living and making his own family… pretty cool. I’m definitely not ready to attend any other baby showers but it was pretty great catching up with him, his brothers I led as well, and his fam.

Flashpoint and I will be down in G this weekend....if you happen to be in the neighborhood! Car looks great! She never left me walking in all the years I owned her. I'll have to dig up some of my old photos of it on the jig at Funco.
As it turns out, will be at pad 3 this Tuesday through next Tuesday with a bunch of GD peeps all weekend! Can’t miss the GV wrapped trailer - holler when ya get in!

Finally cleared out the storage unit we had to rent for all the GV chit ... now my garage is full before I bring the two trailers home from G ...but I'm not hemorrhaging the storage unit $ ... took a truck load of chit to the landfill, hit Sam's Club, stocking on supplies, packing, and prep for the trip back to G this Tuesday

Rear shocks were missing the rubber grommets over the misalignment bushings and all four lower rear misalignment bushings looked like the one on the right, tops were ok but got replaced anyhow as did all four uniballs.
Lower shock mounts were worn pretty good, especially the passenger side. Both were replaced
The rhino lining on the arms might be great but kinda sucks when it's time to cut and weld... we won't be doing anymore of that in the future

Joined the Funco Family. @Grease Monkey took the wife for a ride Regatta weekend and she remembered how much she missed having a buggy so we went and picked this up immediately afterwards. Our last buggy was ~15 years ago and was a VW beam car...
Listing was: 200
62 FuncoHustlerSSE 4 seat (#15) 420 horse Redline Northstar w/ MEFI, Mendeola 2-D, 930s, two-tube bypass Kings, radio & intercom with 4 head sets, 2 owner, factory built, professionally maintained, and super clean.Car is pretty much a time capsule... gages, lighting, etc. all original. Original paint still there but previous owner updated panels with some black vinyl.
Went through the car and everything looked good except the lower rear shock mounts and a leak PS reservoir cap. Replaced the shock mounts, all four rear shock uniballs, misalignment bushings, and grommets as well as the radiator hoses... then time for a shake down.
Happy to report that after 6 days there were zero issues besides the leaky PS reservoir cap. Temp fix for that and all is good Still have ~20 days left in the dunes this season and won't do much to it until it's over. May eventually do the full update or just a couple things here and there, unsure yet - air system probably top of the list - but very happy with the car!
**Had to edit the post - turns out this is a Gen3 SSE coil car from 2002 and originally built and owned by @FASTER DADDY - good seeing you the other day and really appreciate the intel on this gem

LOTS of good times... but the absolute best was Zilla towing Ian after one of them... one of the funniest moments I've ever seen in all my years
